Panga Drops, April 2014

Panga Drops: Shoulder High, MessyStrong winds to start the month. April tends to see the end of the winter winds and the some of the strongest southerlies. 2011 April played host to the strongest swell of the year.
Panga Drops: Overhead, CleanWinds have calmed and stronger swell gave for solid head high to overhead conditions today at Panga Drops. Swell outlook moderate the next 10 days with a thick southerly due in April 13th or 14th. The surf will be firing for the Easter holidays!
Panga Drops: Head High, Clean3 - 4ft fun
Panga Drops: Head High, CleanFun day at Panga Drops. Moderate offshores, surf consistent in the head high range. Looking small the second half of the week to come with uptick due Monday 14th for the start of the Easter vacations.
Panga Drops: Waist High, CleanWaist high waves order of the day, again. After a brief HOT and calm spell the winds are blowing again and keeping a cap on the soaring semana santa temperature... pushing 100 degrees!!
Panga Drops: Head High, CleanPanga Drops working best with moderate sideshore breeze. Will be smaller the next couple days, Thursday & Friday. Slight bump over the weekend and series of powerful southerlies arriving from Monday 21st will see 5-star conditions through the end of the month and early May.
Panga Drops: Head High, CleanPanga Drops the best choice this morning as the tide dropped. Head high, good form. The stars are aligning for a stellar week of surf starting Monday 21st.

Playa Colorado, April 2014

Playa Colorado: Shoulder High, CleanLight offshores, steady shoulder high surf. Looking small the next few days.
Playa Colorado: Head High, GlassyFun surf on tail end of weekend swell. Feeling the heat as the winds reduce!! Not looking great the rest of the week. The Easter Holidays will get off to a good start Monday 14th and will be positively firing from Saturday 19th with a thick band of long period swell coming up from the south.
Playa Colorado: Shoulder High, GlassySwell down today, but sets still coming in shoulder high+. Light winds, feeling the heat!!!
Playa Colorado: Waist High, CleanSurf's small again today and looks like it will be staying this way for the rest of the week and through the weekend. Next week looking OK and Easter Sunday there's a 16 second southerly due in and light offshores expected to coincide. Should be good!
Playa Colorado: Overhead, CleanColorados on form today with light winds and warm water.
Playa Colorado: Overhead, CleanLess swell but easily overhead. Winds light and forecast looking good through the holidays and next week!
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanWaves small today but working nicely and a lot of fun at low tide. Should pick up tomorrow and from Monday will be firing.
Playa Colorado: Overhead, CleanWeekend swell in early; PUMPING today at Colorados! Should be good tomorrow, Sunday, and we're anticipating 5-star conditions next week as swell holds and winds decrease.
Playa Colorado: Overhead, CleanGood size. Best first thing as wind picked up early and started closing out on falling tide.
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanHot weather, warm water fun surf. Should get bigger the next few days!
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanSurf was firing and some hot chicks on the beach. Happy day here at Colorados :)
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanGood size, perfect weather... monkeys in the trees! This is what Colorados is all about!
Playa Colorado: Shoulder High, CleanPerfect weather, but weak swell. River not flowing at the moment which doesn't appear to be helping the sandbanks.
Playa Colorado: Shoulder High, CleanSolid 4ft, clean. Light offshores.
Playa Colorado: Double Overhead, CleanHard to pick an album cover today... the surf was cranking and there were some smoking hot females doing their best to distract our normally unflappable lensman. 12ft+ on the faces. Perfect weather and light offshore winds.
Playa Colorado: Double Overhead, CleanBombs coming through again today Sunday, mostly on the right. 10ft+ on the sets. Carlos and Kevin trading the best waves and some good guest surfers here at the moment too.
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanSteady head high and plenty of fun ones to be had on the tail end. Looking OK for the rest of the week, will take a dip through the weekend and expecting a repeat of the last swell midweek next; Wednesday thru Saturday. Expect some rains and onshore wind as we get into May.
Playa Colorado: Head High, Clean3 - 4ft, glassy. Once again best on the right.
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanMACHINE on the right this morning! Looking good tomorrow Thursday, then a week long lull before the mid May uptick which will see it EPIC through the middle of the month May 8th - 15th. No signs of first rains yet; they're just round the corner.

Popoyo, April 2014

Popoyo: Shoulder High, CleanPequeños olas para empezar el torneo y viento bastante fuerte.
Popoyo: Head High, CleanImproved conditions for day two of the tournament 'Copa Pacific Surf' over at Popoyo, but winds still on the strong side.

Popoyo Outer Reef, April 2014

Popoyo Outer Reef: Double Overhead, CleanPopoyo Outer Reef firing through the high tide today! Breezy side shore.

Playa Colorado, April 2013

Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanUptick in the swell, light offshores all day. April 1st so the April FOOL made a showing!! Massive swell on its way, due in Thursday. Period maxing out at 20 seconds.
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanGreat weather, consistent head high surf, light offshores all day. 20 second swell due in the day after tomorrow, Thursday, will likely leave Colorados a rippy, stirred up mess. Should calm through Friday and deliver decent conditions on its tail end through the weekend. A more potent, more southerly swell just appeared on the end of the long range for Thursday next week (April 11th). This should hold up better due to its angle.
Playa Colorado: Overhead, GlassyColorados was rocking today on mid size swell, delivering a lot more than expected. Overhead and glassy with light offshores all day. T -1 for 20 second south westerly, due in sometime after midday.
Playa Colorado: Double Overhead, GlassyLight offshore, perfect draining rights as swell filled in. Cloudy start to the day, some lightening through the night. Hot and humid. First rains not far away...
Playa Colorado: Double Overhead, GlassyOvercast, rippy and generally not happening early morning. Tide is critical on long period days. Switched on momentarily mid morning on fuller tide. Good sessions through the afternoon on the falling tide, too. Hot, hot, humid day once again.
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanBreezy offshores today and long period swell creating strong rips. Some good waves coming through from time to time but not consistent.
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanCleaned up today, bigger and offshores lighter. Steady tube machine running on the right through the mid tides. Monster swell getting close, peaking out at 22 seconds.
Playa Colorado: Overhead, CleanSwell backed through South, opening up a few lefts for a change today. Monster swell peaking out at 23 seconds due in tomorrow, Thursday. Secondary 20 second swell will fill in as this one fades from Sunday. Expect to see some XXXL waves these next few days. Possibly too much swell for the beach break, but the reefs will be going off. Light offshores and fair weather forecast throughout.
Playa Colorado: Overhead, Glass PerfectionThursday, April 11th. One of those days that will go down in memory with a powerful southerly giving near perfect conditions today at Colorados. The beach break often can't handle long periods; so with this swell peaking out at 23 seconds it will be interesting to see how things evolve over the next 24hrs. Perfect weather, light offshores, light crowds.
Playa Colorado: Overhead, GlassyPerfect conditions once again on 22 second Southerly. Looks as though the swell peaked out yesterday afternoon, as it was a foot or two smaller today. Great weather, light offshores. The forecast is showing a second 20+ second swell arriving Sunday.
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanLight offshores and plenty of energy in tail end of passing Southerly. Dark blob fast approaching on the swell map; looks like Sunday afternoon through the early part of next week we could have a repeat of last Thursday & Friday.
Playa Colorado: Overhead, CleanFresh long period swell arriving and very strong rips. Lenin dragged out; had to be rescued. Not consistent, but occasionally breaking nicely on the right. Conditions will likely improve tomorrow once the swell settles. Light offshores, perfect weather.
Playa Colorado: Overhead, GlassySwell veered round through 200 degrees today, giving us an equal mix of right and lefts. Some Kodak moments being had on the close out section up the Gigante end of the break. Colorados doing its best impression of Pipeline.
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanOccasionally head high on the sets. Hot today, partially overcast.
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanSlight bump in wave size today (Thursday) on a weak south westerly. Some decent rights coming in although inconsistent. Light offshores, partially overcast. Hot, hot day. Looking small Friday though the weekend with a short lived 18 second pulse expected to bring improved conditions through the early part of next week.
Playa Colorado: Waist High, CleanFirst lay day of the month. Waist high waves and not enough of them to go round. Side shore wind midday on making conditions especially poor. Not looking good for the weekend. First half of next week should be back on. 19 second swell at 3 to 5ft could bring a fun close to the month of April.
Playa Colorado: Shoulder High, CleanLight offshores, sunshine, inconsistent shoulder high waves. Should pick up tomorrow. Plague of jelly fish.
Playa Colorado: Shoulder High, CleanSlightly improved conditions today with sets coming in head high and more consistent. Several hammerhead sharks washed ashore at Panga Drops. A female and two newborns. The mother weighed about 150lbs and the young in the region of 2lbs-3lbs.
Playa Colorado: Waist High, CleanNothing special going on today at Colorados, so had a recce round some of the lesser known beaches in the area looking for unridden peaks. Seems we may have found some, both lefts and a right. Where? Err, don't know...
Playa Colorado: Shoulder High, GlassyLight offshore winds and very, very hot day today. Steady shoulder high surf. Fun on the lefts with steep southerly swell angle. Looking good for next week...
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanJump in the swell and more wind too. Dark clouds drifting by threatening rain. Hot again. Went over to Popoyo mid morning; not much happening there. Back at Colorados got fun just before the high tide with both the left and the right giving steady supply of shoulder to head high waves.
Playa Colorado: Overhead, CleanGood waves through the morning. Got messy midday as the wind veered sideshore. Onshore looking likely to round out the month.
Playa Colorado: Overhead, CleanForerunners of next swell starting to appear and generally good conditions all day. Looks like the onshore will get set in Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Offshores should be back with us next week.

Playa Santana, April 2013

Playa Santana: Head High, CleanMacking swell and steady offshores but not hitting the right note at most breaks. Colorados walled end to end; Panga Drops messy and blown out. Outer reef Popoyo not happening, but looked good inside. Santana was faring best yesterday, mostly on the left.

Popoyo Outer Reef, April 2013

Popoyo Outer Reef: Double Overhead, CleanStrong southerly rocking the outer reef. Early morning session not so good, but it all came together in the afternoon.

Lance's Left, April 2013

Lance's Left: Shoulder High, CleanWe went for a cruise to the north today. Won't disclose exactly where as we are seeking out refuges for the high season which is just about to start. Several peaks working nicely with few to no takers. Stunning views and wildlife.

Playa Colorado, April 2012

Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanThe swell angle has increased a few degrees bringing the focus round to the right. Sets running head high, consistent, light offshore breeze.
Playa Colorado: Overhead, CleanSuper clean SW swell continues to give steady supply of head high to overhead waves. Sunny day again with light offshore wind.
Playa Colorado: Chest High, CleanBreezy today and not so much energy in the water. Monster swell on its way, due in Thursday...
Playa Colorado: Double Overhead Plus, CleanGenerally rippy and as stirred up as a flushing toilet, but some gems making it though on macking 3ft, 20 second swell coming in from the SW.
Playa Colorado: Chest High, CleanLight offshores & sunny weather. Fun start to Semana Santa! Hacienda Iguana beach wall collapsed!
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanWith the Hacienda Iguana beach club & the NSR house' swimming pool in danger of getting washed away it was decided to try reroute the river...
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanThe day after the beach club wall fell into the river, it was finally decided to reroute it back to the south of the break. In spite of the rivers unusual position this year, the wave out front at Colorados continues to deliver the goods...
Playa Colorado: Chest High, Slightly ChoppyUnusually small waves for April and some onshore wind.
Playa Colorado: Chest High, CleanSmallest waves I've ever seen in April. Chest high, occasional head high sets. Fresh swell due in soon...
Playa Colorado: Head High, GlassyFinally, the swell's back with us. Light offshores & plenty of juice on the forecast for the next 10 days...
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanSets running 3-5ft from dawn to dusk. Sunny day, light offshores. A huge bee's nest appeared overnight in an almond tree at The Wave Garden... Honey, anyone??
Playa Colorado: Chest High, CleanNothing special today. Looks like as of tomorrow the first of a series of new swells will be arriving that should give good waves for the remainder of this week and all next week...
Playa Colorado: Chest High, CleanSlightly bigger than yesterday, sets running at 3-4ft. All next week looking good!!
Playa Colorado: Chest High, CleanChest to head high, long wait between the sets. No sign of the new swell yet, maybe tomorrow...
Playa Colorado: Chest High, CleanFun start to the day, but got super crowded & tiny from 8am onwards. Not sure what's up with the models, but none of the latest swell happened. By sunset there was evidence of energy in the water, so maybe... maybe.... its gonna happen tomorrow...
Playa Colorado: Head High, Clean3-4ft with the odd 6-7ft rogue set rocking up. Wind got strong mid morning then died down again in the afternoon.
Playa Colorado: Chest High, CleanSuper slick micro tube sequence, unfortunately the camera decided to focus on the white water in front. 2-3ft, light offshore. Grey skies for much of the day.
Playa Colorado: Head High, GlassyOne of those days - sunny, light offshore wind, sets running 3-5ft from morning till night :)
Playa Colorado: Overhead, Glass PerfectionStrong southerly swell (17 seconds, 2ft at 197 degrees) giving steady supply of 5-6ft glassy barrels throughout the morning. Bombs going off through the afternoon, but messier with moderate sideshore wind and strong rips.
Playa Colorado: Head High, Glass PerfectionFun dawn raiders session before the onshore kicked in mid morning. The winds are forecast to switch back offshore tomorrow. Onshore mess through the afternoon.
Playa Colorado: Chest High, CleanFun session snatched in the early morning, but generally weak again today and onshore wind in the afternoon. From Saturday and through next week its looking promising. 1st rains of the season drawing near....
Playa Colorado: Chest High, Slightly ChoppyOK early, sideshore mess in the afternoon.
Playa Colorado: Chest High, CleanNot much swell today, but plenty of wind. Next week looking the exact opposite - light wind & plenty of swell... Gotta love Nicaragua!!!!
Playa Colorado: Chest High, CleanJackson's back with Quiksilver stickers on his board and surfing better than ever!! Felicidades, Sr. Obando! 2-3ft, moderate side offshore.
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanSmall but good form and fairly consistent. Should start happening tomorrow... Looks like the first rains could arrive May 5th
Playa Colorado: Chest High, Slightly ChoppyNew swell coming in, but pretty disorganized. Stirred up and rippy throughout the day at Colorados. Improved momentarily on the falling tide.

Playa Santo Domingo, April 2012

Kitesurf Report from Playa Santo Domingo: Moderate, Side Onshore WindBreezy today and not much swell left, so headed over to Playa Santo Domingo on the Isla de Ometepe. Perfect 12m conditions. Shallow, flat water. Super steady side-onshore wind. Stayed in Santa Cruz which has a great view out over the bay.

Lance's Left, April 2012

Lance's Left: Chest High, CleanTail end of swell giving chest to head high waves this morning over at Lance's Left. Calm through the morning, onshore in the afternoon. Forecast showing the onshore sticking around for the next couple of days through Saturday & Sunday and should be back to normal by Monday.

San Jorge, April 2012

Kitesurf Report from San Jorge: Strong, Side Onshore WindSteady 15-20kts yesterday and a 23-25kts today, Wednesday. With May just round the corner today's session could mark the last of the winter 2012 season :(

Panga Drops: Overhead, CleanPanga Drops working well this morning on the mid tide. 4-5ft, light offshores. Grey day.
Panga Drops: Overhead, CleanNew swell giving clean & consistent head high/ overhead waves at Panga Drops all day. Rippy, stirred-up mess over at the beach break.

Playa Colorado, April 2011

Playa Colorado: Head High, Glass PerfectionFirst day in the new month and a sick start to the 2011 southern swell season!! Not that big, but great form on the low tide. Generally head high with some coming in a little overhead. Not a breath of wind at sunrise.
Playa Colorado: Head High, CleanSome chunky waves starting to show up from the latest swell. The early morning session was fun but moderate side-offshore wind picked up through the morning messing it up.
Playa Colorado: Overhead, CleanStrong 18 second swell giving some juicy waves, but the wind still hasn't let up. At least its blowing offshore again rather than side shore as it has been, so not messing it up too much.
Playa Colorado: Double Overhead Plus, CleanStrong swell stirring up some huge sets this morning at Colorados. Longest barrel (5 seconds behind!) and biggest wave of the year so far both scored today.
Playa Colorado: Chest High, CleanThe waves weren't spectacular, but photogenic session nonetheless. Chest to head high, light offshore breeze.
Playa Colorado: Overhead, GlassyNew swell delivering plenty of juice this morning at Colorados. Cross shore wind, but not strong enough to mess it up.
Playa Colorado: Overhead, Glass PerfectionGenerally head high, overhead on the sets. Glass perfection. Finally we got some clean surf off this latest swell which was coming in lumpy the previous two days.
Playa Colorado: Overhead, GlassyPlenty of swell still about and no wind. The middle peak out from Bob & Sheri's was working great this morning, serving up bombs in both directions.

Popoyo, April 2011

Popoyo: Overhead, CleanLight wind and great waves early this morning just after high tide at Popoyo.

Popoyo Outer Reef, April 2011

Popoyo Outer Reef: Double Overhead Plus, Slightly Choppy3ft 18 second swell almost igniting the Outer Reef. Light wind at dawn was gusting up to 25mph by the time anyone had paddled out.

Lance's Left, April 2011

Lance's Left: Head High, CleanStrong wind today so we went to sheltered Lance's Left near Astillero. Chest to head high and good fun around the low tide. Thanks to all at Pastora tours!!

Manzanillo, April 2011

Manzanillo: Head High, CleanThe left was showing signs of life this morning at Manzanillo. However, I'd recommend arriving by boat if you don't want to get hassled by the nice people who work at the Guacalito de la Isla resort!! Pastora Tours in Gigante will do the trip inexpensively.

Playa Rosada, April 2011

Playa Rosada: Chest High, GlassyPlaya Rosada serving up some fun lefts at low tide. Chest to head high, a little bigger on the sets. Light offshore wind.

Playa Santana, April 2011

Playa Santana: Overhead, CleanPlenty of juice off new swell, but very high tide early morning was killing it. 19 second period could also be too long for Santana's. Popoyo Outer Reef wasn't working this morning, should do tomorrow as the new swell sets in. Light winds.

Panga Drops, April 2010

Panga Drops: Head High, GlassyGood this morning at Panga Drops. Chest to head high. Light offshore breeze.
