Amazing location & house... which could use some TLC

Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star

From Providence, RI November 15 2019 - November 17 2019

The house feels totally isolated, on an amazing semi-private beach that is beautiful and calm, soft sand, gentle waves, amazing sunsets, everything you could want from a beach. We saw evidence of turtle hatchings, which was super cool, and lots of other wildlife was present as well. The water was warm and calm enough for our sea kayaks, and it was so gratifying to just walk down a few dozen feet from the house into the ocean water. Sky was incredible at night. The house was really large, it actually had an extra room that looks like a sitting room in the photos but which has been made into an extra bedroom. So now, on the bottom floor (in a semi-private wing) there is a room with a queen bed, plus the bunk bed room (this is super cute with four beds, but not sure it's all that livable - no blankets on the beds, for example). Upstairs there is the master bedroom, plus another bedroom with two twin beds. So instead of housing eight, as the listing states, it could really fit 10 in the right configuration. The infinity pool was incredible to hang out in, or to take a dip in to cool off during the day. It was consistently clean and maintained, and a gorgeous refuge from the day to day. Daily housekeeping is included and the woman who does it is super nice. We had quick responses to our email queries.

The area is very remote -- so make sure to take EVERYTHING you will need. The house itself, although gorgeous and an amazing location, could use some TLC and inventory updates.

Amazing place to escape the world

Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star

From West Haven, CT (USA) October 05 2019 - October 12 2019

Amazing place to escape the world. You might feel unease without internet the first day, but that becomes valuable as the days go by. The house is beautiful, stylish and comfortable. The beach ... is paradise!. We did not see a single soul there for the whole stay. The house is secluded and hard to get to, but once you find it is easy to go out and come back. There is a few "pulperias" (little stores) outside the complex where you can buy the basics if you run out. Try buying from the little shacks on the road. The people are super nice and gentle and in serious need of an economy boost and very grateful. We will be back.

Maravillosa la casa, cerquita del mar, inmejorable ubicación. Excelente precio. Tomen nota que casi no hay señal celular. Si están pensando en salir off-the-grid, es una excelente opción. El wifi también es limitado. Definitivamente vamos a regresar!

From Concord, CA (USA) June 28 2019 - June 30 2019

Pictures don’t do justice to this beautiful property. It’s spacious, bright and super clean! The pool has amazing views and it’s such a ridiculously short walk to a private, almost waveless beach. It had everything we needed, from comfy beds to gorgeous Mikasa plates and cups. Had the most relaxing time ever!

Comfortable house, the most beautiful beach (I've found) in Nicaragua

Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star

From Hastings, MI (USA) January 17 2019 - January 20 2019

The house was beautiful and the walk to the ocean was short! The view from the beach is definitely first class. The rooms are comfortable and have air conditioning. The suggestions I would have is to make sure and bring everything you need, as there aren't any stores close by. Load up on food and entertainment stuff like DVDs. Otherwise the house was relaxing and the evening on the back porch was very comfortable and fun.

The place is spectacular! Huge clean modern house, gorgeous pool and all of this 200 ft from most beautiful beach we have ever seen! On top of that great communication and local tips from our concierge Iain. The property is managed by local agency and this is a big plus! Cannot wait to come back soon!

Great location, house, pool & perfect paddling beach

Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star

From Copenhagen, Denmark January 12 2018 - January 15 2018

The villa is really nice with a great pool, great rooms, kitchen, bathrooms etc. It is right on a virtually private beach. We never saw more than 2 families/groups besides us. The beach is great for swimming and kids as it is one of the few calm, clear beaches on the Pacific coast where surfing is the norm.

Great property!

Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star

From Philadelphia, Pa January 08 2018 - January 11 2018

Casa Guacalito is amazing. A group of us stayed here for a couple of nights and couldn't have asked for a better place to relax. We had the entire beach to ourselves (which is the picturesque beach that I have ever been to) and loved exploring the tide pools and surrounding area. Its just a quick walk through the backyard. Communication was great- responses within minutes. The house itself is very conducive to hanging out with friends and family as the whole first floor is open to the pool. We also had a local sell us fresh lobster that we watched him catch in the water minutes before! Can't beat this property for the price!

Amazing House

Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star

From Convington, Virginia September 26 2017 - September 30 2017

“This beach was amazing - practically completely private and so fun to explore the rocks and neighboring beach nooks. where the waves crash up. Incredible sunsets.

Super easy walk down from the house. The house is stunning. All the windows make you feel like you're still outside. Central air is almost unheard of in this area. The outdoor patio is amazing as the indoor spaces. Beautiful green grass everywhere. The fridge is huge and there is so much kitchen counter space. The showers had nice, hot water with great water pressure. Amazing pillows on the beds.

The only thing house was missing some staple kitchen items that would have been helpful, like mixing bowls, oven pans, and oven mitts. It would also be nice to have seating on the upstairs porch. The stove/oven is older than expected (but still worked!)

Really, we LOVED staying here and would absolutely recommend it to anyone, especially a larger group. We didn't use the bunk bed room but it was absolutely adorable.”

Relaxing Getaway

Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star

From New York, NY July 23 2017 - July 26 2017

If you are looking for a relaxing get away at a pretty much private beach (playa guacalito) and your own pool this is it.

Spent three nights as a family with two younger children. Morning walks on the beach in which we had the beach to ourselves then spent afternoons in the pool. Each day only saw a few people on the beach from the nearby guacalito resort.

While we did not need need tv or wifi, be aware that these services were not working, but trust me you don't need them (or if you do just use Movistar 3G on your phone as reception was fine and kids watched Netflix streaming on phone). as others have recommended stock up on groceries on your way in as other than bottle water provided not much to be found nearby.

There are some good hikes to close by viewpoints of the ocean cliffs. Also, while this property is officially in the "guacalito" resort to get inside the "pellas and mukul" areas you will need to make a reservation at the restaurant or spa as the entrance and exit is through the service entrance of the property as the couple of houses on this beach were the original homes prior to construction of mukul/guacalito.

Overall though for the price and accommodations of the house this is the best value I've found in the area.

Beautiful house, gorgeous beacj

Rating starRating starRating starRating star

From Oklahoma, USA June 30 2017 - July 07 2017

This house is as beautiful as it is in the photos. The beach is AMAZING, and we mostly had it to ourselves. If you have any concerns about safety, don't. There are 2 guard gates before you get to the house. You can feel certain that there won't be anyone on the property who doesn't belong. We arrived at the airport late at night, and our driver was there to meet us just as planned and the trip to the house went very smoothly, despite the late hour. Our driver pulled over to let us see the Masaya Volcano outside of Managua...beautiful! The house is secluded, so if you're looking for a beach that feels like your very own, this is it! The pool is beautiful and offers a great view to the beach.

Some things we would suggest: Bring beach towels (there aren't any in the house) Bring a hair dryer if you need one Bring some basic seasonings if you plan to cook Bring coffee filters (none to be found even at Maxi Pali), or plan to use the espresso maker Know at least some basic Spanish Consider renting a mobile wifi devise. We got ours at the airport

Places we would recommend: A visit to Gigante A visit to Mag Rock Avis near Guacalito (car rental is very reasonable) Bordport Coffee Shop by Avis...great iced lattes, nice guy who works there, and good wifi Fruit stands in Tola Playa Colorado in Hacienda Iguana and the beach restaurant there...love this beach! Fishing with Zack A visit to Ometepe, but if you want to hike the volcano, you should probably make plans to stay overnight

We will miss the relaxed, laid back atmosphere...walking down to the beach in the morning in our pajamas if we felt like it. And we will definitely miss this beautiful place!

A huge thank you to Iain for all the help and info. It was nice to meet him in person, and he was available by WhatsApp pretty much all the time. We're happy to have a new friend!

Paradise

Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star

From DR - NY/NJ - Seattle June 22 2017 - June 26 2017

Came here for my honeymoon and it was perfect. Beautiful house and beautiful location.

Swimming in the pool while listening to the waves a few feet away is paradise. Literally wanted to spend all day in that pool.

The beach has a beautiful view of the little islands and everything is super lush. Also close to all the other Tola beaches (Popoyo, Manzanillo, Gigante, etc). And you can use the beach at the resort if you eat at the restaurant (which is great but expensive).

Ian and the Nica365 team were super helpful and Aldolfo and Maria super friendly.

Truly truly a paradise -- I fully recommend.

Peaceful Seclusion

Rating starRating starRating starRating star

From New Zealand April 18 2017 - April 20 2017

The house was great and a 2 min walk down the lawn to the private beach which was excellent for my friends who didn't surf, it was calm and great for swimming. A couple of little cabanas on the white allowed you relax at the beach all day. Excellent bunk from set up for families. If you want total isolation for awhile then this place is great, take your own supplies as any store is a decent drive away but the kitchen is well set-up to cook at the house. Saw some interesting wildlife on the property too.......wish I was back there now. The security man & has family were helpful with any questions or issues, had fun chatting with them and swapping some recipes. A great time all round thanks

Paradise

Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star

From Canada February 21 2017 - February 28 2017

“This is quite possibly the most beautiful place we have ever stayed. The beach is pretty much private. The views exceptional. Because of the big island in front of the bay the waves are not very intimidating so it's great for swimming and snorkelling. The cleaning lady was very hard working and friendly as was the 24h security guard. Iain was always available to help us set up activities. We are already talking about renting it again.”

Beautiful location for rest and solitude

Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star

From Miami, FL (USA) December 15 2016 - December 19 2016

My friends and I wanted to get some rest and not be bothered by crowds for a few days. The house and location turned out to be the perfect place to relax and get away for 3 days, but we would have all stayed longer.

Guacalito beach is very private and you only see people late in the afternoon when they release some turtles right before dark. The hosts were very attentive to all of our needs. Although the house is within Guacalito resort it does not give you access to the golf and Manzanillo beach club. We were told that you can reserve at their restaurants though. Since we wanted to get away from the crowds we were completely satisfied with our decision to stay at this very beautiful and private home. The pool is perfect for relaxing. Sitting outside at night with the lights turned off you feel as if you can touch the stars while enjoying the ocean breezes.

More beautiful, more private, more perfect than even the photos reveal

Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star

From Montreal, Canada March 09 2014 - March 16 2014

We have rented this house several times over the last few years and I hesitate to review it for purely selfish reasons! It is our little private piece of paradise and has become a huge part of my children's lives - it is home away from home in the most private, exclusive setting in Nicaragua. We are huge nature lovers and this property is as unspoiled as it gets - parrots and monkeys in the trees and a beach alive with activity. Every time we've been here there have been turtles nesting on the beach, eggs hatching ... my kids have shepherded many babies safely to sea and even (alongside my husband) helped rescue a huge female turtle caught in a tide pool which was no easy feat and one of their most significant childhood memories. The first thing they do every morning is rush down and check the nests. The beach is private and the swimming is safe as the island offshore tames the wild Pacific waves - and the fishing is amazing. We catch our own dinner (including Snappers and "Viejas" ... not sure what that is in English) much of the time. Delicious. For us it is the privacy that we love the most - the quiet, the exclusivity and the complete get-away-from-it-all feel and yet in a stunningly comfortable home. However there are resorts down the road with a golf course and a really cool beach town nearby called Playa Gigante with cafes, surfing lessons and quite the evening ambiance. Although you could probably have someone pick you up in Managua, it is a good idea to have your car - there's lots to explore. I suggest stopping in one of the big grocery stores in Managua, stocking up for the week as the nearest town, Tola, has limited options. Only back a week and we are already staring at calendars and wondering when we can return! Fabulous place, really.
