Small start to the month that officially marks the start of the Nicaragua Surf Season. Actual conditions were better than forecast; forecast was for it to be flat. Consistent waist to shoulder high.

March 6th through the middle of the month will be FIRING with a double tap of two powerful Southerlies. The first due in on the 6th. The second centered on the 13th. Swell Season 2014 begins.

Clear skies, consistent 3-4ft. Fun today. There's a few days of bad weather lurking at the end of the long range forecast; looks like the close of the 2013 rains will happen sometime in the first half of November.

Calm at dawn, but wind drifted onshore as day progressed. Overcast, drizzle and occasional heavy downpours from passing thunderstorms. Dry and dusty last week, green and muddy now; it doesn't take long for Nicaragua to green up once the rains arrive. Surf forecast not holding much promise for the first week of June. With luck, the winds will swing back offshore in time for the opening of the ISA Junior World Championships starting one week tomorrow at playa Jiquiliste.

Jump in the swell and more wind too. Dark clouds drifting by threatening rain. Hot again. Went over to Popoyo mid morning; not much happening there. Back at Colorados got fun just before the high tide with both the left and the right giving steady supply of shoulder to head high waves.

Nothing special going on today at Colorados, so had a recce round some of the lesser known beaches in the area looking for unridden peaks. Seems we may have found some, both lefts and a right. Where? Err, don't know...

Slight bump in wave size today (Thursday) on a weak south westerly. Some decent rights coming in although inconsistent. Light offshores, partially overcast. Hot, hot day. Looking small Friday though the weekend with a short lived 18 second pulse expected to bring improved conditions through the early part of next week.

Fresh long period swell arriving and very strong rips. Lenin dragged out; had to be rescued. Not consistent, but occasionally breaking nicely on the right. Conditions will likely improve tomorrow once the swell settles. Light offshores, perfect weather.

Great weather, consistent head high surf, light offshores all day. 20 second swell due in the day after tomorrow, Thursday, will likely leave Colorados a rippy, stirred up mess. Should calm through Friday and deliver decent conditions on its tail end through the weekend. A more potent, more southerly swell just appeared on the end of the long range for Thursday next week (April 11th). This should hold up better due to its angle.
