Tiny waves once again made up for slightly by perfect weather. A few waist high waves coming in from time to time.
Christmas lull. Small and nothing on the forecast. Could get breezy for New Years.
Occasional rideable wave coming through. Should see some swell tomorrow Wednesday or Thursday. Long range now covering Christmas and good Christmas surf looking distinctly unlikely.
Almost got decent as the tide pushed today, Wednesday. There's a little bump on the forecast Sunday/ Monday. After that back to being tiny for the rest of the month. Its being a weird one 2013. Started off so promising, then shut down August. I never would have guessed the South Pacific could get so tame in its winter and spring.
Heavy rain thorough the night gave for a brown water wake up. Barely any swell. Winds onshore. Nicaragua, what's going on??!?
Not great, but a lot better than expected. The wind was 2-3mph onshore and steady supply of swell rolling in. Definitely more than the 7 second lull showing on the forecast would have indicated. Looks like the current pattern will continue through Sunday and possibly Monday before the offshores reestablish Tuesday. Thursday/ Friday looking hopeful for 5-star surf conditions with powerful 23 second swell & good weather.
Another day of onshore winds today, Friday. Clouded over 4pm, first thunderstorms and heavy rain of the season early evening. Wind expected to switch back offshore tomorrow, Saturday. The early part of next week looks like it will be settled with the offshores reestablishing and decent swell Wednesday through Friday. Possible unsettled weather next weekend.
First lay day of the month. Waist high waves and not enough of them to go round. Side shore wind midday on making conditions especially poor. Not looking good for the weekend. First half of next week should be back on. 19 second swell at 3 to 5ft could bring a fun close to the month of April.
The wind is back on and not much swell. Small and mostly closed out at Colorados.
Barely surfable, waist high on the sets!
Strong winds and small waves again today, Wednesday. Things looking better next week with winds expected to reduce Tuesday, Jan 29th in time for an 16 second pulse coming in from the south west.
Papagayo winds shrieked through the night causing moderate damage to some properties, snapping trees and intermittent power outages. Unseasonal rain shower in the afternoon sparked a perfect rainbow. Strong winds are characteristic of Jan/ Feb weather - especially when the El Niño climate is/ has been in effect.
Strong Papagayo winds today; small and mostly blown out, minor damage to property and snapped trees. Gale force winds due to subside for the weekend.
Weak swell giving waist to chest high surf and moderate/ strong wind continues. Fun micro-barrel session behind the bluff over at Santana.
Breezy, tiny waves. There may be swell coming in tomorrow/ Wednesday and another weak pulse for the weekend.
Sunshine, 15-20mph offshore wind. Not enough swell for Colorados to give a rideable wave but occasional shoulder high sets coming in at Panga Drops.
Day of the dead - the day Nicaraguan's remember their dead and visit graves to lay flowers. Small waves again today and breezy. Some swell on the way next week. Strong wind looking likely.
As small as it gets. The odd rideable wave, but never more than waist high. Offshore wind gusting up to 20mph. The forecast is showing the wind strength to increase over the next few days. Could be a early Papagayo. There's a bump in the swell at the end of the long range.
Light offshore breeze, sunshine all day. Barely any swell.
There was no wind today, so the conditions stayed lumpy all day after the nighttime storms. Not much swell. Nothing of interest showing on the long range with the wind arrows predominantly onshore for the rest of October at least.
Onshore wind & heavy rain. Slight improvement in the weather/ wind mid morning and some of the locals paddles out. Forecast indicating the ONSHORES will be predominant until the end of the month.
Good weather again, but small waves and light onshore wind.
Sunshine, cloudless sky, light offshore wind... but no swell. Its rare that the Pacific get this calm; last time I saw it this small was almost a year ago. Sunday & Monday will remain tiny then Tuesday there should be a fresh pulse arriving. Offshores and good weather should hold up at least the next 10 days.
Lumpy high tide dawn session was as good as it got today. Surf competition over at Playa Amarillo had a good turn out in spite of the conditions. 2-3ft, messy.
Barely any waves, onshore wind. Sunny!!
2ft & glassy early morning; the wind switched onshore just after lunch.
The onshore is still with us, albeit light. Forecast is showing the winds to be light and variable (but generally onshore) for the rest of the week with the break coming Friday or Saturday. Some onshore on the cards next week too.
No wind at dawn so surfable, although a mess as it was stormy all night. The onshore picked up through the morning making it unsurfable from midday on. This first blat of onshore looks set to last until the end of the week and possibly into next week.
Its that time of the year: the winds are howling, the water is cold and all the nasty stuff that tends to lurk in the deep ocean is lapping about in ankle deep water waiting to kill you...
Calm winds again, but the waves remain tiny. Occasional makeable barrel sections popping up on the right up the north end of the break.
Tiny waves. Today's entertainment provided by the howlers playing in the trees behind Casa la Selva...
Strong wind and small swell continues. Early morning and late afternoon it would have been OK if it weren't for the full tide.
No wind and barely any swell giving tiny, glassy waves.
The sun's out and the wind is offshore - but the waves remain tiny. Should be a fresh pulse arriving later today or tonight.
No takers this morning at Playa Santana. Strong wind and pretty much closed out. The odd ridable left coming through on the south end of the beach.
Tiny waves, but a few ridable ones sneaking through
